James Lane, P.E.
James engineering experience in the construction industry began in 1975 upon entering a two-year technical school in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Upon completion he spend his first 5 years devoted to designing residential and light commercial structures. Yearning to advance his knowledge he entered college at Kansas State University. He completed over 160 semester hours of study to obtain his Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering. Also during his college career he enlisted in the National Guard and completed Infantry Army basic training in Fort Benning, Georgia, completed Officers Candidate School in Salina, Kansas and became commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant, married his wife and had their daughter just prior to graduating from college.
James practiced as an Engineer-In-Training as a structural engineer with a turnkey design build firm in Wisconsin. Within 5 years he obtained his professional engineering license and worked for various Architectural Engineering firms in Virginia, Kentucky and Texas before moving to Arizona to practice as a consultant in Structural Engineering in support of the design team.
James has now been in the construction industry field for over 40 years and 28 of those as a practicing structural engineer. He holds license in 30 states, maintains a National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying record, is a U.S. Green Building Council LEED accredited professional, is a International Code Council Certified Masonry Inspector, is a member of American Industry of Steel Construction, the American Concrete Institute, and Cold Formed Steel Engineers Institute. He has served as a structural engineer on professional design teams for numerous building projects to include medical, aviation, municipal, hospitality, industrial, education, retail and military facilities. He embraces structural computer modeling and continues to learn about new building products. He is knowledgeable in the design with the materials of concrete, steel, timber and masonry. Other areas of expertise include insulated concrete forms and cold-formed steel. He enjoys enhancing his engineering career with continuing education.
